Wednesday March 26 - Swing Dancin'

Today during directed studies, Mrs. Baxley hosted her first swing dancing practice for those of you who are going to prom this year. As I'm sure you are well aware, prom will be at the Hunter Art Museum on April 26, with appearances by Will Markhams band (which I don't know the name of. Sorry Will and Band), A jazz band, and 20 or so minutes designated for a DJ who can play all of those radio classics that you love. A couple of things to remember about prom. First and foremost, do not use prom as an excuse to be any form of intoxicated with your friends. Prom is a classy event, and none of you are 21 anyways, so it shouldn't be a problem. Guys, be sure to treat your date the best you can, because I assure you that their dress is worth more than your life. And girls, try not to forget that guys don't usually enjoy having their pictures made, so try to convince your parents or photographer to keep the photo ops short and sweet. Bow ties are cool, but you know whether or not you can pull one off, so if you can't, dont even try. Here are some suggestions for the guys and girls of what to wear to prom. Note - I am not very good with picking out dresses that girls usually like, so i'm going to pick out the fly tuxes for the guys and THE Lauren Nix is going to give the ladies some ideas for dresses.

For Guys

1.

Simple, yet effective, Calvin Klein. CK can be bought at most of your local Mens Warehouse or Joseph A Bank stores. Guys who wear this tuxedo will be looking for the more economical choice, but it won't be easy to tell you're on a budget, because this tux has the power to make you the most fun-loving guy at prom.

2.

The James Bond. The sophisticated Oxford look always bodes well with the ladies. For God's sake, James Bond is wearing this, how could you expect to not be drowning in women by the end of the night? Honestly though, I don't know where you could purchase something of this nature. Google maybe? Either way, if you find it, i'm sure it wont be cheap.
3.
No. Just No. If you're the type of person who thinks that you can pull something like this off, then you're exactly the type of person who shouldn't be going to prom. Or allowed in a room with any girls for that matter.

For the Ladies

1.
Well this is a nice dress. It's pinkish.  That's about the extent of my knowledge on this dress. If you're looking to try and buy this dress, I'd just Google "Prom Girl Pinkish dress."

2.
This dress also appears to be a shade of red. It looks good in the wind too, so if you're on the balcony at The Hunter during prom and it's a little windy, you're sure to be the best looking one out there.

3.

This one is nice as well. As you can see, it's a great shade of blueish-green and there's a cut in it so you can show off your prom shoes.

Prom is just another thing to look forward to, along with Spring Break, Graduation, and Summer weather. Hang in there students. Hang in there.

Tuesday March 25 - sNOw

WHY? Why are we being punished with snow this late in March? Just yesterday I was rambling about how everyone should stay positive this late in the school year because spring break is just right around the corner, but now... Now, i'm speechless. If Mother Nature could stick to the seasonal game plan, that would be perfect.

In other news, today is Tuesday and many people are celebrating birthdays today, but the only one that matters is Mrs. Nixon's! If you see Nonnie in the office the next few days, be sure to wish her a happy belated birthday. The middle school is going to venture to Disney World tomorrow, in hopes to put on their semi-annual performance alongside some of the most iconic charachters in the world.

As today has progressed, so has the volume of the snow. At one point it actually started coming down pretty hard, causing even more seasonal conerns. But do not fret Signal Mountain, good weather is going to arrive a little late next week, but will nonetheless will be here.

Monday March 24 - Daily Thoughts

Spring break is just around the corner, and for many Signal Mountain students that's the cue to shut off all brain activity in class. Morale in the classroom is generally mutual between students and teachers at this point, "Get us out of here and on the beach" cries the school's population. The worst part is, it's supposed to be 50 degrees all week, and isn't supposed to get warmer until late next week. It occured to me that the thought of this is probably pretty demoralizing for students and staff. So, to help everyone through this annoying Monday, here are some tips on how to turn that frown upside down.

5 Tips for Curing the Monday Blues

1. Don't go into a Monday with a Bad Attitude. Anyone who expects their day to suck is going to have a sucky day. Don't count yourself out early.
2. Immerse yourself with friends. Good company is always the best company, and everyone knows its hard not to be happy with people that you enjoy being around.
3. Make today different. Feeling like you're stuck in a routine and just cannot seem to get out? We've all been there. Try and switch it up today. Maybe you're feeling an ice cream at lunch, or a run on the track after school, find something you enjoy and make it happen.
4. Netflix. Enough said.
5. Go see a movie or go out to eat tonight. I heard the new fast and furious movie was pretty good..

If all else fails and the above tips aren't working for you, then sleep it off and Tuesday will be here before you know it. If that doesn't work either, and you find yourself having a bad week, then just remember again that Spring Break is coming up.

Still not cheered up?

This is a last resort, but here's my last attempt to at least get you to smile, Signal Mountain.

Have a good Monday Eagles.

Signal Mountain - Heaven on Earth

As many of you know, Signal Mountain High School is often referred to as "The Holy Grail of High Schools in the greater Chattanooga area." And Just to be clear, we are. As a student who is blessed enough to be a product of the best private-public school in the south east, I can tell you without a doubt that Signal Mountain students have the best oppurtunity to succeed in life. Teachers and students form friendly relationships that engage students, motivating them to be at school and to get the most out of their life. Our administration is well-equipped with the resources and knowledge to further progress our school in the right direction. Big things happen at Signal Mountain every day, and it's my job to give the best un-biased daily reports that I can.

Have a good end of the year Eagles
